| Lot description: AEOLIS. Cyme. Nerva, 96-98. Diassarion (Bronze, 25 mm, 12.52 g, 1 h). ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΩΡ ΝЄΡΟΥΑС ΚΑΙСΑΡ СЄΒ[ΑСΤΟС] Laureate head of Nerva to right. Rev. KY-MH The Amazon Kyme standing front, head to left, holding globe in her right hand and trident in her left. RPC III -. Unpublished and unique, a important and very interesting issue. Very fine. Cyme was one of the few cities of Asia Minor to strike coins in the name of Nerva, all of which are extremely rare today: RPC knew of three types, attested in a total of only five examples. Our coin is thus the sixth known coin of Nerva from Cyme, and it is of a new, hitherto unattested reverse type, showing the eponymous Amazon Kyme. Starting Price: 75 CHF |  |
